vsSquarespace

The Squarespace alternative with a team behind your website

With Squarespace, you build your website and look after it yourself. With Stride, you can do the same, and our team is there whenever you'd rather ask.

These businesses chose Stride for their websites

  • TheFork Manager
  • BNP Paribas Fortis
  • Groupe Bertrand
  • Deliveroo
  • Accor
  • Petit Futé
  • Partoo
  • Marriott

Three things Stride does differently

  1. A team you can ask

With Squarespace, you build and change the site yourself, or you hire an independent designer. Its own marketplace of designers starts full site builds at about €1,070. With Stride, our team builds the site with you, gives you advice and makes your changes when you ask. You can still do everything yourself.

Setup packages, video advice from Pro, one hour of changes a month on Business

  2. Every language in your plan

On Squarespace, a second language goes through Weglot, a separate paid service: expect about €29 a month for a local business site in three languages. Squarespace says “It's not possible to edit translations directly in Squarespace”. With Stride, up to 15 languages are included in your plan.

Up to 15 languages, on every plan

  3. A new design whenever you want

Squarespace's help center says “You can't switch templates in version 7.1, but you can get a different look by editing your site's colors or fonts”. A new layout is then made section by section. With Stride, you switch between thousands of designs in one click, on your own content. Your content stays in place.

What business owners say

4.8/5 on Google - 105 reviews

  • Hello, we decided to create our website via Centra App. We are a delicatessen and we do takeaway. We were lucky to be contacted by Sarah, a competent and intelligent young woman who listened to us and did a great job. In addition to being friendly and personable, she has mastered the tool perfectly! We are delighted with the result, which corresponds to what we are in the description and the chosen photos, even though we have control over our site. The Zoom was friendly and efficient. Sarah got to know us and created a site that reflects our personality. And we communicate very easily with her via WhatsApp. Thank you Central App and thank you Sarah!

Frequently Asked Questions

Squarespace pricing and renewal

How much does Squarespace cost?

Shown in Belgium and excluding VAT, its first plan, Basic, costs €17 a month paid monthly, or €12 a month paid for the year (€144). Other languages go through Weglot, billed separately: free up to 2,000 words in one language, then from €15 a month, or €29 for up to three extra languages, excluding VAT.

What does Weglot cost for a site in three languages?

About €29 a month, excluding VAT. Weglot counts translated words: the words on your pages times the number of languages you add. Two added languages need its Business plan, up to 50,000 words, which covers a site of about ten pages. Weglot's word counter gives your exact figure.

Is Squarespace cheaper than Stride?

For a site in one language that you build and run yourself, yes: its first plan costs less than ours. The difference shrinks when you add a second language through Weglot, or pay a designer to build the site or make changes, which Stride's team can do for you.

Does a Squarespace plan renew automatically?

Yes. Squarespace says “Subscriptions renew automatically”. It sends a reminder 15 days before a yearly plan renews, and none for a monthly plan. When its prices change, “you'll pay the updated price on your next scheduled renewal date”.

How do I cancel Squarespace, and do I get a refund?

You cancel in the Billing panel, and the site then shows a “Website expired” message. Squarespace refunds a yearly plan cancelled within 14 days of purchase, minus the cost of a free domain. It gives no refund on monthly plans or on renewals: “Cancel before the renewal date to avoid being charged”.

Stride or Squarespace

Can I keep my domain name?

Yes. You keep the domain you own and point it to your Stride site; you need access to its DNS settings. The change spreads in 24 to 48 hours, and the old site stays visible until then. Old addresses can be redirected.

Can I build my Stride site myself, as on Squarespace?

Yes. On every plan you can build and edit the site on your own, starting from a free preview. You can also ask us: our team builds the site with you if you take a setup package, and makes your changes on the Business plan.

What do Squarespace's customers say about it?

On Trustpilot, Squarespace scores 3.4 out of 5 from 6,044 reviews (October 2026), with 39% of five stars and 40% of one star. Many praise its support agents and how easy it is to build a site. Recent negative reviews are most often about renewals and charges, domains and reaching a person.
